random stuff

Haven't been posting much, but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it! I'm taking Supernova II here and I'm really enjoying it. I like watching the videos over and over, and practicing what Julie is teaching. It has been fun.  I am going to probably take Art Journaling 101 next. I have a bunch of other classes I want to take this year. I enjoy the classes, and they give me the much needed feedback and confidence.

Here is a page that I started when I didn't know what the heck I was doing.  I think I like it.
Oh and here is the finished version of a page I posted previously.

more backgrounds

I did a couple of more background pages.  I've not done much collaging or actual journaling, but I'm enjoying the "prep" process. I want to try everthing!  I'm hoping to take Julie Prichard's Super Nova and Layer Love classes really soon.

This one was done with some fountain pen inks...Diamine and J. Herbin, I think...The top left corner was Gris Nuage, the light blue is Diamine Turquoise.  I don't remember what the darkish blue one was, and the dried blood color at the bottom is I think Caran d'Ache Storm.

This next one is done in blue and gold acrylic paint, which I scraped with an old credit card.  I love the way it came out!  Definitely will use this technique again.

actually it is the first page

Not the first page I've been working on, but the first page in my 1st journal.

Still a work in progress.

new stuff!

I bought some stamps, a stamp pad, a bottle of cheapo fluid acrylic, scrapbooking papers and a white paint pen. I plan to use my Hobby Lobby coupon to pick up a tin of Caran Darche Neocolor II watercolor crayons. I also want a copic pen, and a couple of pitt pens. Then I'm done. For now.

Here is another page, which is actually the first page in my journal. I did the background with pastels, and the writing was with a grey sharpie that bled through to the back and has since been covered up with lime green paint.

1st journal page

While I was home today, I started on my 1st journal page. I gessoed the page, and added some random watercolor.  Then, I added some collage elements.  It is not nearly done, but a cool start. Actually, it's not the actual first page of my journal. That page has a simple pastel background, and some text.  I will write more on this page, with my ideas and plans for what I want this journal to be...my "mission statement" so to speak.

I needed another blog like I needed another hole in my head. I'm starting this blog to chronicle my newest and latest obsession--Art Journaling. So new, so exciting. I hope to learn new techniques and share my work here.
